Dear Parents and Guardians,
Thank you for everything you’ve done to support your child’s literacy development. I’d like to encourage you to keep reading with and to your children. The Summer Slide is the learning loss that can occur when children do not engage in literacy activities over the summer. We want to avoid that Summer Slide as much as possible. Please encourage your kids to read, listen to stories, draw pictures, and write about their summer. Whenever possible, try to get some real books in their hands! To support you and your child in their continued literacy development this summer, I’ve created virtual classrooms and resources for each grade level. You can find them by clicking on the tabs to your left. When you see an icon or picture, try clicking on it. It's probably a link! Have fun exploring! Please remember that the most important literacy activity you can do is read together! Please let me or your child’s teacher know if there’s anything we can do to support you over the summer. Sincerely, Elizabeth Berry Westborough Public Schools PK-3 Literacy Coordinator [email protected] |
